The Investigations Division is responsible for solving crimes through detailed casework, evidence analysis, and suspect identification. The Division is comprised of the Detective Unit, the Problem Oriented Policing Unit, Evidence Technicians, the Property and Evidence Section, and the Records Section.

Primary Responsibilities

Criminal Case Investigation - Investigate serious crimes like homicides, sexual assaults, robberies, burglaries, and fraud. Detectives gather evidence, interview witnesses, and build cases for prosecution.

Evidence Collection and Analysis - Our Detectives and Evidence Technicians meticulously process crime scenes and work closely with forensic experts and crime labs to process physical evidence, including DNA, fingerprints, and digital data.

Suspect Identification and Arrest - Use surveillance, informants, and investigative techniques to identify and apprehend suspects. Detectives work hand in hand with our patrol officers on a daily basis to gather information.

Case Management - Detectives are assigned cases based on specialization and severity. They maintain detailed reports and collaborate with prosecutors to prepare for court.

Interagency Collaboration - Coordinate with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, especially for complex or multi-jurisdictional cases.
