Male Citizen of the Year 2024 - Bernard Winston
Bernard Winston has been a valued resident of Bolingbrook since 1979, and his impact on our community is both profound and far-reaching. As one of the founders of the Black History Month Program in 1997, Bernard has played a crucial role in celebrating and preserving cultural heritage, ensuring that the significance of Black history is recognized and honored each year.
A proud graduate of Joliet Junior College and Kean University, Bernard combines his educational background with a distinguished professional career. As the owner of Twin Benefits & Financial Solutions and a legacy planner, he has guided countless individuals and families in securing their financial futures. His role as Assistant Director of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity’s Education Foundation further highlights his commitment to educational advancement and community support.
In addition to his professional achievements, Bernard is a passionate advocate for youth development. He has devoted his time to coaching boys and girls track and basketball for the Bolingbrook Panthers and serves as a youth advisor for the ICE & FIRE Leadership Academy, nurturing the next generation of leaders.
Bernard’s dedication extends to various community organizations. He has been a valued member of the Victory Cathedral Worship Center for 15 years. His role as an Assistant Medicare Advocate for the Bolingbrook Levy Center for Seniors reflects his commitment to supporting our senior community.
Bernard also co-owns Balln Worldwide, a clothing line that recently celebrated its 18th annual Balln Family Picnic, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and his commitment to bringing people together. Additionally, he is a key co-founder of the Alliance of Civil Engagement Bolingbrook.
