Promenade Hydrants

A great partnership between the Bolingbrook Arts Council, The Promenade Bolingbrook, and Illinois American Water, helped create a unique public art program for the Bolingbrook community.
The Arts Council hired local artists, 4 of them from Bolingbrook, to paint 10 select hydrants around the walking areas of The Promenade Bolingbrook. All of the artists "kicked off" the painting during The Promenade's Fall Festival on Saturday, October 24th. The painted hydrants are now fun works of art that the public can enjoy as they visit The Promenade.
More information on the artists can be found on the @Bolingbrook Arts Council Facebook page event at https://www.facebook.com/events/393496928333823/

"The Council is very excited by this project,” said Mithra Zaucha, Council chair. “We are very grateful to partner with Illinois American Water and The Promenade Bolingbrook, who are equally excited about this fun and unique project."
With almost all events cancelled in 2020 the Arts Council had to find creative ways to maintain the relevance of the arts during the year.

“We thought this would be a good time to move forward with our public art initiatives,” said Zaucha. “With so many in the arts community financially hit by the aftermath of COVID-19, we’re especially proud that we are providing a paid opportunity for some of our local artists. It’s part of our mission: create a culture in Bolingbrook that embraces and financially supports working artists and artist groups.”
