Approval of Resolution (22R-011) Approving the Purchase of Graykey Cellphone Data Extraction Software from Grayshift, LLC
Trustees voted to approve the funding of a software and hardware agreement. This software allows the Police Department to unlock cellphones and recover data such as pertinent deleted or encrypted messages required in the investigation of a crime. Under the current agreement with Grayshift, LLC the Police Department is only allowed fifty (50) total extractions and one (1) device. By partnering with the Joliet Police Department to split the costs, this new two (2) year agreement will provide the department with two (2) devices with unlimited extractions from iOS and Android device capabilities and have the ability to download from two (2) devices at the same time. The overall cost savings due to this partnership will be $30,063.56 over the two years. The total cost of the software and hardware is $30,968.22 per year for a total cost of $61,936.44.
