Our Mission

Through community outreach and education Bolingbrook Animal Control works in partnership with the community to promote public safety, responsible pet ownership, and the humane treatment of all animals.

About Us

The BPD Animal Care and Control facility is staffed by three full-time Animal Control Officers (ACOs), and is assisted by our Community Service Officers, Police Officers, and our partners at Humane Haven. The staffing hours between village employees and volunteers is consistent with area animal care centers. Our ACOs and police department staff also provide 24-hour emergency service to our community. Additionally, volunteers from Humane Haven assist with essential daily care of our feline friends staying at our center. The Bolingbrook Police Department believes in humane treatment of all animals and is committed to reuniting lost pets with their owners. Animal Control utilizes its Facebook page to notify the public of found pets. Comments are not monitored and citizens with information on an animal’s potential owner are directed to contact Animal Control at 630-226-8500. What Services Does Bolingbrook Animal Control Provide?

Animal Control only provides services for Bolingbrook residents. If you do not live in Bolingbrook, please contact your local police department or animal control for assistance.

Animal Control Officers enforce state and local laws. These laws are designed to:

Encourage responsible pet ownership
Protect citizens from injury or intimidation from dogs and other animals
Protect pets from rabies, neglect, inhumane treatment, and abuse

Animal Control Officers investigate complaints. Examples of complaints we respond to include:

Animal bites to humans and pets
Public safety concerns
Animal neglect or cruelty
Stray domestic animals
Sick or injured wildlife or wildlife in peril

Who Should I Call With Animal Related Complaints?

I Found A Pet - Now What?

If the pet is wearing ID tags, contact the owner immediately.
Then contact Animal Control for assistance at 630-226-8670.
If the animal is wearing a rabies tag, call the appropriate county's Rabies Control department and give them the tag number. They will provide you with the owner’s information.
Take the pet to be scanned for a microchip at any animal hospital or Animal Control.
Post a FOUND PET photo, description, and location where you found the animal on a lost/found site such as Lost Dogs of Illinois, Lost Cats of Illinois, Fido Finder, etc.

I Lost My Pet - Now What?

Talk to neighbors and post LOST PET flyers around the area where your pet was lost.
Call our office at (630) 226-8500 to report your pet missing.
If your pet is microchipped, notify the microchip manufacturer that your pet is missing and update your contact information.
Use social media to get the word out, add a lost pet report to these missing pet websites:

I Need To Rehome My Pet

Bolingbrook Animal Control is a stray holding facility and cannot accept owners surrendered pets. Many shelters and rescue organizations will take back an animal that is originally from their organization. If your pet was adopted, please contact the original adoption agency.
