Engineering Division
The Engineering Division has a broad range of responsibilities that encompass several crucial areas of work. Firstly, they review and inspect infrastructure for new developments to ensure compliance with the Village's standards and codes. Additionally, the division takes on project management of infrastructure projects funded by the Village, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget.
Furthermore, the Engineering Division oversees maintenance contracts for essential services such as paving streets, repairing sidewalks, restriping roads, and crack-filling. They also administer the drainage program, including floodplain maps, handling resident complaints, and coordinating the National Flood Insurance Program.
In addition to these core responsibilities, the Engineering Division runs several programs to help the Village run smoothly, such as the overweight vehicle permit program and the utility permit program. They work collaboratively with other departments, public agencies, and private groups to ensure that their programs align with the Village's goals and objectives.
Finally, the Engineering Division is responsible for archiving records and creating maps and exhibits using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology. This ensures that the Village has accurate, up-to-date information about its infrastructure and can make informed decisions about future development. Overall, the Engineering Division plays a critical role in maintaining the Village's infrastructure, ensuring its safety and functionality for residents and visitors alike.
