Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is responsible for maintaining public safety through visible presence, rapid response, and proactive crime prevention. It is the heartbeat and most recognizable part of our department, with uniformed officers patrolling neighborhoods, responding to emergencies, and engaging with the community. The division is staffed 24 hours a day, patrolling nine geographic beats within the Village.
Core Responsibilities

Routine Patrols - Officers conduct regular patrols in assigned areas to deter crime, monitor suspicious activity, and ensure public safety.

Emergency Response - Patrol officers are typically the first to arrive at scenes involving accidents, crimes in progress, medical emergencies, or public disturbances.

Law Enforcement and Crime Prevention - Enforce traffic laws, investigate minor offenses, and intervene in criminal activity. Officer presence alone often helps prevent crime.

Community Engagement - Build relationships with residents and businesses, gather intelligence, and promote trust through outreach and visibility.

Initial Investigations - Patrol officers often conduct preliminary investigations, gather evidence, and secure scenes before specialized units take over.

Traffic Unit - A specialized unit focused on enforcing traffic laws, investigating vehicle collisions, and promoting roadway safety through education and proactive patrols.
