Snow Plowing Priorities

How Roadways Are Prioritized 

During snow events, Public Works does not plow every roadway at the same time. Routes are prioritized to provide the greatest benefit to public safety and maintain access throughout the community. 

Priority 1 – Primary Roadways 

Includes: 

• Major thoroughfares. 

• High traffic roadways. 

• Emergency access routes. 

• Routes used by Police, Fire, and emergency services. 

Priority 2 – Secondary Roadways 

Includes: 

• Collector streets. 

• Neighborhood entrances. 

• Roads connecting residential areas to major routes. 

Priority 3 – Residential Streets 

Residential streets are addressed after priority routes have been treated. 

During larger storms, residents should expect additional time may be needed to complete all neighborhood streets. 

Cul-de-Sacs and Dead-End Streets 

Cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets require additional maneuvering time due to their design. These areas are addressed after primary routes are completed. 

Municipal Facilities 

Public Works also prioritizes access to: 

• Fire stations. 

• Police facilities. 

• Village facilities. 

• Other critical public locations.
