Support Operations

The Support Operations Division focuses on building trust, fostering collaboration, and improving public safety through direct engagement with residents, schools, and local organizations. Support Operations serves as the bridge between our officers and the community, offering programs, resources, and events that promote transparency and mutual understanding. The Division is comprised of crime prevention officers, school resource officers, park officers, community service officers, animal control, and code enforcement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Community Outreach - Focuses on building trust, fostering collaboration, and improving public safety through direct engagement with residents, schools, and local organizations.

    • Community Engagement Programs - Hosts events like Coffee with the Chiefs and town hall meetings to encourage open dialogue between officers and residents.

    • Neighborhood Watch Support - Helps residents organize and maintain Neighborhood Watch groups, providing training and signage to promote community vigilance.

    • Public Safety Education - Shares crime prevention tips, emergency preparedness resources, and updates on local safety trends.

    • Liaison Services - Community Outreach officers serve as direct contacts for residents, helping address nuisance concerns, quality-of-life issues, and connecting people to services.

    • Support for Vulnerable Populations - Partners with advocacy groups and social services to assist seniors, victims of crime, and underserved communities.


  • Crime Prevention - Responsible for developing and implementing strategies that reduce crime and enhance public safety through proactive community engagement and education. Crime Prevention Officers work closely with residents, businesses, schools, and community organizations to identify risk factors, promote security measures, and foster partnerships that deter criminal activity.

  • School Resource Officers - Coordinate school presentations, mentorship programs, and safety education initiatives to build positive relationships with young people. Four (4) specially trained School Resource Officers (SRO) are permanently assigned to Bolingbrook High School (2), Brooks Middle School, and Humphrey and Addams Middle Schools.

  • Code Enforcement - Responsible for ensuring compliance with municipal codes and ordinances that protect public health, safety, and quality of life within the community. This unit addresses violations related to property maintenance, zoning, signage, nuisance conditions, and other local regulations. By enforcing these standards, the unit helps maintain safe neighborhoods, prevent blight, and promote community well-being.

  • Animal Control - Responsible for promoting public safety and animal welfare within the community by enforcing local and state animal-related laws. This unit responds to calls involving stray, injured, aggressive, or nuisance animals, ensuring humane capture and proper care. Officers investigate cases of animal cruelty, neglect, and abandonment, and take enforcement action when necessary.
